Become a befriender
Volunteering with Let’s BeFriends will provide you with the opportunity to make a real difference to those experiencing the pressures of homelessness and recovery in the Lancaster and Morecambe district.
We provide ongoing training (including Adult Safeguarding and Mental Health Awareness), a DBS certificate, Peer Support, one-on-one supervision sessions and access to flow charts in our volunteer toolkit to enable you to tackle problems. You will gain knowledge of local statutory and third sector agencies which support vulnerable people.
You will receive a Tempo Time Credit for every hour volunteered and after three months we can supply you with a job reference.
Our befrienders are required to:
- Offer a minimum of three hours a week to support homeless beneficiaries
- Be willing to accompany beneficiaries to appointments which encourage participation in /access to improved health and social care
- Adhere to our policies on safeguarding, confidentiality and boundaries

Let’s BeFriends are looking to recruit a Volunteer Coordinator. The post is for:
- 16 hours per week @ £12.98 per hour
- Self-employed role with an initial 12-month contract
- Flexible hours
- Based in the community with ability for some home working

Job Description
Make a referral
If you or someone you support is homeless, at risk of becoming homeless, or recently accommodated after a period of homelessness and would benefit from our befriending service, then please email us on the link below and request a referral form.
If your referral is eligible for our service, it will be added to our waiting list, followed by contact from our Unmatched Beneficiary Coordinator until a suitable befriender has been identified.
Self referrals are welcome, but if you are a partner agency wishing to refer someone you support, or if you would like support and have a key worker from another agency, we request that the partner agency completes and submits the referral.
